Choose the session before the timer
Set aside a workable period, perhaps around ten minutes, while keeping the duration flexible. Choose one comfortable seat and one reclining position you already know. If changing between them is inconvenient, use a single position for the whole session.
Place the mat and any modest supports in a clear area. Plan your familiar route down and back up. Keep the session short enough that you can finish and return to the rest of the day without a hurried exit.
Part one: settle
Begin in your chosen position and arrange your clothing, feet, and supports. Notice what makes the setup practical. You can keep your eyes open and let the room remain part of the experience rather than trying to shut everything out.
Take a quiet pause with natural breathing. There is no special breath pattern to achieve. Let this first part last until you feel ready for a small movement, or keep it brief when your available time is limited.
Part two: explore
Choose two uncomplicated actions, such as a low seated arm reach and a short reclining heel slide. Perform each at an easy pace, with a resting moment between sides. Keep the range small and leave out either action if it feels uncomfortable.
Repeat a few times only if you want to. The sequence does not need to grow more demanding as it continues. You can spend more of the session on a movement you like, or move directly to the finishing part.
Part three: finish
Return to an easy position and rest your hands. Decide whether the session feels complete, then take your familiar route off the floor. Pause at each change of level and remain still briefly before moving into another activity.
This three-part structure can stay the same while the details vary. On another day you might choose different familiar movements or remain in a chair. Keeping a clear beginning and ending helps the practice feel organized without requiring a fixed checklist.
A few common questions
Do all three parts need equal time?
No. You can keep the opening brief or spend longer in a comfortable finishing pause. The parts provide a useful order, rather than an exact allocation of minutes.
Can I do this without reclining?
Yes. Stay in a suitable floor seat or a stable chair and choose two comfortable seated movements. The same three-part structure still applies.
